Bidens 1 – Original Cyanotype
This beautiful Cyanotype of Biden Flowers is an original one of a kind work of art.
It is created using the wet cyanotype process, on beautiful Bockingford watercolour paper. The size is 11 x 7.5 ins. and it is unframed.
The wet process is a variation on the traditional cyanotype method. It can be performed on dry pre-prepared sheets of photosensitised paper or directly into the wet chemicals as they are applied (wet into wet).
The Cyanotype process was developed by Sir John Herschel in the 1840’s and shortly after used by the pioneering female early photographer Anna Atkins. A method of photography using sunlight without the use of a camera.
Bidens is a genus of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae. The common names beggarticks, black jack, burr marigolds, cobbler’s pegs, Spanish needles, stickseeds, tickseeds and tickseed sunflowers refer to the fruits of the plants.
